The first person to win 20 Grand Slam titles in tennis was Roger Federer.
Federer, 41, had wanted to return for a final farewell in 2023, but he announced that the Laver Cup in London the following week will be his last competition.
Federer tweeted a statement to his followers saying, "I've worked hard to return to full competitive form. "However, I am also aware of my body's potential and limitations, and lately, it has made that plain to me.
Federer tried to make a comeback in 2018 following two knee operations in 2020. He made it as far as the fourth round of the French Open before retiring, and then he lost to Hubert Hurkacz 6-3, 7-6, 6-0 in the Wimbledon quarterfinals.
